Welcome to Speedie Readies: Show the Code. A neuroinclusive pathway for communication, reading and spelling. Join the Three Learning Corners and access the orthographically mapped Village With Three Corners book series online.

Children learn to read because they can see how words are spelled. Speedie Readies provides children with 52 pre-mapped books that make the structure of English visible, so they can learn the code through reading and move into self-teaching without relying on memorisation or guesswork. After the Intro Books text is regular
What will you learn during the training? The Speedie Readies Reading Corner is about:
-
Children learning by reading pre-mapped text
-
The full code being made visible in books, not drip-fed through instruction
-
Repeated exposure to mapped words in meaningful sentences
-
Statistical learning through reading, not explanation
-
Self-teaching emerging because nothing is hidden
The mapped books are the core mechanism. Everything else supports access to those books.

Upstream screening and phonemic awareness support, using stories to build excitement for speaking and listening, and mapped books that include non-speaking children while supporting self-teaching, with Best Start-aligned training.
When we show the code with mapped words, it works like training wheels for children learning to ride a bike.

Speedie Readies: The Dual Route to Word Mapping Mastery®
• The Core Code: Connects speech sound processing to print through about 100 commonly used graphemes and more than 100 mapped high frequency words. This provides the essential foundation that allows learners to begin self-teaching.
• The Whole Code: Bi-directional word mapping within meaningful context eg the One, Two, Three and Away! series, set in The Village With Three Corners, that supports self-teaching and facilitates earlier orthographic mapping.

We can connecting speech to print from birth.
Synthetic phonics programmes teach the orthographic code from print to speech, encouraging children to look at the letters, recall a taught phoneme, and blend the sounds. This approach works for many, but it creates difficulties for around one in four children. A parent or teaching assistant can make a real difference by working one-to-one for just ten minutes a day, starting from speech and showing the code in both directions.

Emma Hartnell-Baker (aka Miss Emma) will help you teach your child to read and guide you on what to do if they are not learning quickly and easily in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2. This membership option and support are suitable as a preventative approach for children aged eight or younger. You can live anywhere in the world.
Start early! Prevention is easier - and reading for pleasure is fun!

Show the Code - Speech to Print! Very quickly they don't need the words to be mapped. But if they do need help, they know how to get it.
Every Child Reading by Seven? Show the Code!
Stop making reading so difficult for 1 in 4.
Access the One, Two, Three and Away! series of 100 orthographically mapped stories that make every word decodable and meaningful to every child, at any time, separate from systematic phonics instruction.
Use alongside your whole-class synthetic phonics programme with a TA, and every child will not only pass the PSC but, more importantly, learn to read with independence, fluency, and comprehension before the end of Year 1.
You will see them begin self-teaching at around the 50-book mark. For Reception children, this typically takes about 16 weeks when started from Term 2.
Simple, inexpensive, and no knowledge of linguistics or English orthography required.

The Speech Sound King created a Universal Code to show how we can talk on paper so everyone can understand, even when we use different accents. The Speech Sound Duck helps us segment and blend sounds, and the Naughty Speech Sound Frog is always mixing up the spelling and punctuation, so we have to put it right!
